Just doing some more browsing and there are still excellent V and some H fare deals to Europe (post sale) in the 800-1200 range with departures from YYZ, YUL or YYC to LHR, CDG, FRA ZRH. I think these are excellent value for upgradeable fares.

There are great deals in H and other classes FROM Europe. A fare of $664 CAD from CDG-YOW in H class, 7 day advance, 7 day stay.
$727, LHR-YYC, 3 day advance, only Sat. night stay required (last day to book today), just over $900 for H fare with same conditions (available after Jan 31)
What are the restictions (advance booking, minimum stay) on these fares?
I too am batting 100% since being SE. Last year that meant 40+ SJ seats for V or H fare.

No, techincally you cannot confirm an upgrade unless there is C class available. This is where information from ITN comes into play!
Perhaps I'm thinking of award seats. Can SE book an award seat from J inventory or does this also apply to C (D) only?

I always assumed that it was only C as well...but what if there is D?

Yes, you can do this. I was told in this way: Say there were 25 J seats on a plane, if there are less than 25 J bookings for that flight and there are no D class, then they will convert a J class into D class for you. So if there are more than 25 bookings, then they cannot turn a J->D for you even if there are still seats available for sale.
I always assumed that it was only C as well...but what if there is D?
Nope, D have nothing to do with upgrades. But as BB said, he is batting 100% so I think us SEs should have nothing to worry about except buying the appropiate fare!
I looked it up on www.expedia.ca (http://www.expedia.ca) under the other options, lowest fares listing and only getting Air Canada fares.

Where are the good fares to CPH http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif?
...if you are SE http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
Without the "Ultimate Upgrades" CP had, there is little incentive for E members to fly abroad for mileage run, as we cannot upgrade. It would be nice if Milton would at least allow upgrades on a standby basis...
I must admit...booking the opposite way - originating in Europe - the rules are much more favourable having to compete with the likes of LH, SR, BA...etc.

Where did you find the ticket with minimum 2 days? Whats the farebasis? For this price I quoted you can choose from ARN-CPH-YYZ,ARN-CPH-LHR,ARN-AMS-YYZ
Screen-scraping laws in India:: Cyber-law in India is a good case in point. But before proceeding any further, last month stopped scraping fares and inventory from southwest.com. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=746810HOME | After Burner: V fares to different destinations have different restrictions. For Europe destinations, it could range from a 45 days to 7 days advance purchase, 14 days to 7 days min stay requirement and usually a 30 days max stay restrictions.
BB: While those V fares looks attractive, the restrictions and conditions that comes with it is incredible.
V Fares to LHR are a 45! days APEX fares all the way up til a $1035 H fare which is a 21 days APEX. Low V fares to FRA comes with a 14 days min stay. Most lowest V fares to Europe are 21 days APEX. Having said that, it is a really good deal for those who knows well in advance that they need to travel!
No there are capacity controls but my success rate has been 100%. I can usually find a seat on some routing at time of booking to CDG, LHR or FRA that is open in C. In Canada, even when C shows 0, I have always had the upgrade clear by time of flight (again 100% success).
The advance booking to CDG is only 21 days in V, 14 in H right now, 7 day minimum stay (other than weekends in DUS, I always stay at least 7 days).
For FRA it is 21 days advance in V 14 day minimum stay, 7 in H, 7 day minimum stay.
Don't know why LHR is so bonkers!

That's what I thought, Empress. I'm not sure my SE status is going to give me much more than Elite did for my LHR trips. Long advance planning for me is 3 or 4 days and I rarely stay more than 5 days. Confirmed upgrades at time of booking will help, though. Also, do I understand correctly that SE can always upgrade if there's any J inventory (as opposed to C)?

Even on oversold flights (ie over 25 bookings in example above), the waitlist has eventually cleared for me. Remember only on AC planes!
kempis: there are relatively good fares to CPH ($965-1280) in V class with 14 day advance and 7 day minimum stay.

I can buy a ticket from ARN-YYZ for 547CAD(including taxes) in Q and for 732CAD I get a ticket in V class. Only 7 days advance purchase and 7 day minimum stay.
Try calling the local CTO or airport ticket desk...ask for grey market fares...usually V and $100 - $200 less!
