  • i want to get a tattoo for the first time but im scared that it will hurt! does it depend on where you put it??? how are the prices aranged??? i was thinking of getting in below my waist is the color more expensive to have too??? any tips about tattoos would be great!

  • my brother got his when he turned 19, i think.
he said that it hurt when they did it. then they put a big band aid on it for a while, not to be gross but it looked kinda bloody... just make sure that the place you get it done at is clean

  • It does depend on where you put it-- usually the hands and back of the neck are more expensive...
Color isn't necessarily more expensive- it depends on the artist-- I have a bunch of tattoos- 5 are all black- the rest are colors-- I have a bunch of random colors swirled together to form stars and stuff on my hips--
my one side of my hips hurt (not excruciatingly pain- but it wasn't too comfortable) and the other side- I couldn't stop giggling... so it just depends on the person...
just make sure you don't drink, you don't take advil/asprin- anything like that-- it thins your blood- and you'll bleed while your being tattooed...

the bigger you get- the more time- and more chances of having to go back to finish the tattoo (may not be able to be done in one sitting)... color can make a tattoo more expensive- but it doesn't at the same time-- just depends on your tattoo artist... my artist makes up my tattoos for me-- I just tell him an idea- he comes up with something- and he's really good at reading my mind I think :) he does a really good job... my last tattoo have over a dozen colors-- and its pretty big-- it was $60....
not bad (for me) at all!!!

Good luck with your tattoo- do research about the place before if you need to, but make sure your 100% sure about your idea before you go and get it... tattoo is forever ya know! :)

  • ok look when i got my tatt i was pretty nervous and scared too i got it on my back right shoulder i got 3 butterflies..it didnt hurt at all this may sound weird but it was so relaxing ..after you get the tatt now thats when it hurts..you cant even sleep..but if you do get one take care of it ..put the lotion on and everything feels good

  • Bony areas are going to hurt more than fleshy areas. The ribs are the worst. Price depends on size, color, and the artist and/or your geographic location. I've got a tattoo on my lower stomach. I don't think that it really hurt... it was just more annoying than anything. Obviously you want a clean shop that uses sterlization and all that other stuff. Shop around. Check online for shops in your area. A lot of shops have websites with their tattoo pictures posted. Or if you want go to a shop and talk to the artists or the people there. They are full of good ideas and could give you a better idea of pricing and what to expect, etc. I say if you want one go for it!!

  • It does depend on where you put it. Don't get it on your waist, feet, and forearms. I would put it on my wrists or back.

  • It definately depends on the placement. Boney areas are more painful then the fleshy ones. If the area is normally tender then it will be the same for a tattoo. Price depends on the artist, size and color of the tattoo, placement, etc.
Tattoos are definately worth the pain if it has a meaning behind it, don't just pick something off the wall or flash sheet, 90% of the time you won't be happy with it.

    Good Luck

  • It really doesn't hurt. It kinda feels like someone taking a pencil eraser and "erasing" the same spot on your skin, over and over. Like a dull irritation. I got a flower vine across my lower back. Its about 6 in. long and 2 in. high w/ lots of color. It cost me just about $100.

  • I was nervous about my first one too. I thought it over for about a year before I did it. I got mine on my upper arm because I figured it was a "meatier" area of my body. Yes the pain has to do with where it is. It will hurt either way but some areas hurt more. The one on my upper back hurt more then my arm. The back hurt when they got near the bone. Prices depend on the shop, how big you want it, and what you want. Color is more work so it may cost more. You will negotiate a price with the artist before they do it. My advise is think hard about what to get because you don't want to regret it later.

You can only really know about the tattoo by getting to know the person wearing it. A first offense of the dress code policy can lead to a one day in-school

  • the first one hurts the most but the pain is worth it and on your second one its alot less pain and on bone it hurts most also when they reach a new area if you drin kthe night before youre more likely to bleed or if you have sensitive skin

the price depends on the person who does it
the guys who have done all mince charge by the hour and only for the time you actually spend getting tattooed not for the timedrawing it up and sizing it i doont know if other eople do it that way
a shop usually doesm ore custom work while a parlour will do more flash(designs from a book that are seen often)

make sure you really liek what you get its on you forever
and dont just get what soemone else lieks or accept the first drawing an artistm akes if you dont liek it its on you no one else

  • Mandy, everybody is a little scared when they get drilled on for the first time. Whenever anybody asks me which of my tattoos hurt the most, I always tell 'em 'the first one'. That's because I didn't know what to expect. Some hundred hours of work later, it still seems that way. Not trying to scare you off, they're quite tolerable! Hell of a lot better than a root canal! If they were really that bad, people wouldn't be getting them. Enjoy your ink! Thanks.

  • When you are sure you won't even care about the pain!! If you want it bad enough no pain will stop you :P It really doesn't hurt that much, I am a total wus and I have 3. They feel like being scratched with a tack over and over, and your artist usually doesn't mind if you need to take breaks here and there. The bonier parts of your body are supposed to hurt more, Tattoos aren't generally priced on colors, more per hour or depth of detail, in my experience anyways.. Good Luck :D
